NUS Deploys Quantum Technology Partnering with Singtel to Offer Security Solutions in Singapore
SINGAPORE: The National University of Singapore (NUS) partners with Singtel and announce the establishment of NUS-Singtel Cyber Security Research and Development Laboratory to develop digital solutions for protecting businesses against cyber threats.
Objectives of the Lab
The lab aims to provide real time solution to the cyber attacks by adding new capabilities in data analytics technique. It further aims to bring innovation in designing and implementing IT systems that are “secure by design” and can withstand a plethora of cyber attacks. NUS plans to deploy quantum technology to develop techniques which offer more scalability compared to the current methods. The researchers’ plans to develop a cost-benefit frame network
to protect the enterprises from cyber attacks.
Research Themes of the Lab
The joint research laboratory aims to create an innovative database system that provides secured communication technology for economic growth and social development. Singtel will merge its advanced technology with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) for greater reflex action of the devices and networks.
NUS President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan says, “Cyber security is absolutely crucial as Singapore strives to become a smart nation powered by big data and ICT technologies. NUS has identified cyber security as a strategic research area which has strong potential for high impact technology translation, and partnership with industry. We are very excited to partner Singtel, a leader in providing infocomm products and services in Singapore and Asia. With the support from NRF, the NUS-SingTel Lab will develop innovative solutions that enhance the protection of critical data and information systems in Singapore and beyond. This Lab will also enable NUS to attract and train more students to become cyber security professionals, which is currently a key manpower gap for Singapore.”
